Zara (FKA Oaklyn)
“I meet so many dogs out that are from Saving Grace, and they are all truly gems and they have a lot to do with the rescue group itself. They set everyone up for success.”
Adopting Zara has meant that my single days in my 40s have been filled with love and joy and so many adventures. I wasn’t sure I was ready to adopt after my last dog. I just didn’t know if my heart could take it, so I started with just the Host Sleepover program and requested a medium size calm girl dog.
Zara came home with me, and I kept her for a holiday week. She was an angel the first night and we instantly were a bonded pair. My friends said the way she already looked at me in our photos and how she wanted to take selfies with me the first day was hilarious.
Zara is the sweetest and most gentle girl. She is sociable and has forced me to be more outgoing. She throws herself respectfully at every stranger for attention calmly. She’s the favorite of my friend that has severe autism and anxiety, she says that she immediately feels relief when she’s with Zara. She had heartworms and Saving Grace helped with her treatments prior to adoption.
Saving Grace has such great programs, like Host Sleepover, and it truly does help the dogs to able to be adopted on so many levels. I could tell Zara went from being a stray to getting love from many people and being comfortable getting loved on.
