Joy of Adoption Story

Raven FKA Amren

“Raven is a very spunky girl who adds a ton of laughter to our home. Ball is life.”

Like many others in 2020, our lives changed rapidly overnight. Covid brought many hardships but also many blessings to our situation. We were lucky to work at a company that went fully remote and stayed fully remote. After a time of adjusting to our new normal we came to realize this would be an excellent time to bring home a new dog and grow our family.

In March 2021 we started our next adventure of finding a great dog to add to our home and give Aria a dog friend since Covid closed all of us off from a lot of social interaction. With us being home all the time it was a great opportunity to ensure things went smoothly.

It didn’t take long to check the SG website to find Amren. She was coming from a litter found in a rural shelter. This litter had a very hard journey as they all contracted Parvo. We learned an amazing SG foster took this litter and nursed them back to health from their Parvo diagnosis. The best thing that stood out from her profile was Amren LOVED tennis balls. We knew she was the one to add a lot of extra fun in our lives.

With the health concerns SG was taking a lot of safety precautions considering Covid and the litter that had Parvo, so we had to be a little patient in this situation. On our second visit we arrived very early for an appointment and found her litter there! We quickly found an SG staff member and told her we knew she was the one.

We took Amren home and renamed her Raven. She met Aria who was very skeptical of this new dog but after a couple months really grew to love her new sister. The description of her loving a tennis ball was not an exaggeration.
