Joy of Adoption Story

Lydia FKA Revlon

“It is very satisfying to give a dog who is down on her luck, through no fault of her own, another chance at having a happy life in a safe permanent place.”

On May 16th I adopted a Chihuahua mix. She was formerly known as Revlon, and now goes by Lydia. The adoption process at Saving Grace was seamless. It has a Margaritaville-like vibe. Dogs are relaxed and happily greet people. The members of staff/volunteers were knowledgeable about the adoption process and the personalities of the various dogs. It is obvious that they care deeply for the dogs at Saving Grace. I almost wished I could stay longer, but it was time to take our new little dog home.

Lydia looked like she had a rough start in life. She was severely undernourished and covered in mange and she bears scars of past injuries. Thanks to her foster mom she received wonderful care and love for those first few weeks after leaving the shelter that surely prepared her for a new and permanent home. She is blossoming and learning about her new dog, sisters and brothers. Bit by bit she is learning that meeting new people doesn’t have to be scary.

Saving Grace is a wonderful rescue organization with a long history of providing consistent, safe, and loving homes to dogs of all ages and sizes. The job is daunting and requires a lot of financial support and manpower to keep it going and it is a worthy and noble cause.
