Joy of Adoption Story

Houston (brother to Shark, Gavin, and Bromley)

“Adoption has meant the world to us as it has helped us build our own little family and help rescue dogs that may otherwise not have a home.”

We always made it a point to try and adopt the sickest or the ones that had been at the shelter the longest as we have always had a house full of misfits. Saving Grace made it so easy to meet the different dogs and were greatly accommodating to schedules as we often had dogs that were heartworm + and needed treatment or that needed surgeries and they were wonderful in helping us set those up. The people were always kind and so open to bring as many dogs as possible and work with our requests. Houston is one of many dogs that we have gotten from Saving Grace which include Gavin, Shark, and Bromley. Houston stands out in a field of his own though as we found him before our appointment had even begun, he was sitting on the concrete scared and looking very sick and malnourished, upon hearing his story it was understandable why. He had some difficulty getting to know dogs and even humans as we had a few incidents with my husband and I while he was still learning to trust people. He even refused to put on a harness or a lead and be walked outside he would just sink to the floor. Now, he loves all people including kids, he loves kittens and dogs alike and will openly greet them and he absolutely adores going on walks and car rides. We are so proud of how far he has come and how much he has grown. We support Saving Grace as we have seen firsthand the impact they can have on dogs and people alike. They are such a great resource for the community and are amazing at choosing loving, safe homes for all the dogs involved, we will continue to go back as much as we are able and can hopefully foster for them once more in the future.
