Joy of Adoption Story

Fenway FKA Domino

“When adopting a dog, I see it as saving two dogs: the one dog you adopted, and also opening up a space at a rescue that another dog desperately needs.”

Adopting Fenway has been adding another member to our family. Fenway has been with us through changes in our family, graduations, moving to new cities, new phases of life, hard times, and joyful times. He will always greet you at the door with a toy, a tail wag, and his happy smile. We love Fenway unconditionally and he returns the same love tenfold.

On October 31, 2013 my parents and I went to Saving Grace after expressing interest in Fenway, who was previously known as Domino. I remember seeing Domino’s photo online, and I knew he was meant to be a part of our family. He was the last of his litter that was available for adoption. Once we were at the Saving Grace farm, we were greeted by many happy dogs that were grateful to be in the sanctuary that is Saving Grace. We went to a separate area fenced in area with Domino for a meet and greet, and it was love at first sight!

Fenway has brought so much joy to our lives. He loves going on long walks in the morning, napping in the sun, playing with his stuffed toys, going to the beach, playing with his dog friends at daycare, and most importantly being with his family. He loves his people immensely and is open to any adventure, if he is with his people. Fenway has brought so much joy to our family for the past 11 years and continues to! His birthday is coming up in July, and we can’t wait to celebrate with pup cups and more toys.

My mom had volunteered at Saving Grace prior to us adopting through her work and we immediately connected to their mission. We had adopted Fenway and volunteered for Host Sleepovers. Although I no longer live in the Raleigh area, Saving Grace has inspired me to continue a foster journey with shelter pups. We are proud to have a Saving Grace alumni and standby the mission of helping homeless animals find permanent, loving homes. Fenway has brought so much love to our family and so many others, because Saving Grace gave him a chance.
